YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav revealed that Himanshi, the wife of Indian Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who was killed in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, was his college mate from Hansraj College. The attack, which claimed at least 26 lives—mostly tourists, including two foreigners—saw assailants opening fire on unsuspecting tourists, allegedly after questioning their religion.
Elvish condemned the attack and expressed his condolences, sharing his connection to Himanshi during his college days. He revealed that he didn’t initially recognise her in a video where she was speaking about her husband's death, but after watching it closely, he realised she was a friend from college.
In his recent YouTube vlog, he shared, "I passed out in 2018 and since then we had not spoken at all. Gurgaon, Delhi is my city. We used to enjoy so much… we used to go to the metro station together. I had her number but I did not call her because it is not possible for anyone to pick up your phone at that time and tell you."
Further, he added, "I was shocked. I didn't call her because now is not a good time to talk."
Elvish revealed that he reached out to a mutual friend instead, who tried calling Himanshi multiple times. "She didn’t pick up the first 30 calls, but finally picked up on the 31st," he added.
He shared that his friend confirmed that Himanshi had told her how the claim that terrorists asked victims about their religion before attacking was true.
The couple, who married on April 16, were in Baisaran, near Pahalgam town in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, for their honeymoon. A relative mentioned that they had originally planned to visit Switzerland, but due to visa delays, they decided to settle for Pahalgam.
On Wednesday evening, the last rites of Vinay Narwal were conducted in his hometown of Karnal, Haryana.
