NEW DELHI: Manu Bhaker , a rising star in Indian shooting , showcased her exceptional skills by securing a spot in the 10m women's air pistol final at the Olympic Games on Saturday. Her performance provided a much-needed boost to the Indian shooting contingent after a disappointing start by her teammates.
With a score of 580, the 22-year-old Bhaker claimed the third position in the qualifications. Veronika Major, the Hungarian shooting sensation, topped the qualifications with a score of 582. Rhythm Sangwan, the second Indian shooter in the event, finished in 15th place, scoring 573 points. The final showdown is set to take place on Sunday.
Having been reduced to tears after her disappointing performance in her Olympic debut in Tokyo three years ago, Bhaker has now added an Olympic bronze medal to her already impressive list of accomplishments.
