NEW DELHI: Former civil aviation minister and a senior TDP leader, Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju , was on Monday appointed as the governor of Goa, in what marked the first instance of an NDA partner getting a gubernatorial position.
Former deputy CM of Jammu & Kashmir Kavinder Gupta was named as the new Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh ,while senior BJP leader from West Bengal, Ashim Kumar Ghosh , will be the new governor of Haryana, according to an official communication.
A veteran Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader from Andhra Pradesh, Raju served as the civil aviation minister between May 27, 2014 and March 10, 2018, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has also held ministerial posts in Andhra Pradesh government. He will succeed P S Sreedharan Pillai.
The new governor of Haryana, Ghosh, who headed the BJP's West Bengal unit between 1999 and 2002, will succeed Bandaru Dattatraya.
