NEW DELHI: At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, accompanied by his spouse, Begona Gomez, will officially visit India from October 27 to 29, 2024.


This marks President Sanchez's first visit to India and the first by a Spanish president in 18 years.

The visit follows multiple meetings between Prime Minister Modi and President Sanchez on the sidelines of various multilateral gatherings. During his stay, President Sanchez will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Modi, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation .

A highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of the Final Assembly Line Plant for C295 aircraft at Vadodara, a flagship "Make in India" initiative in the aviation sector established by Tata Advanced Systems in collaboration with Airbus Spain .

Additionally, external affairs minister S Jaishankar will will also meet President Sanchez during his visit.

President Sanchez is also scheduled to visit Mumbai, where he will engage with leaders from trade and industry, think tanks, and the film sector. Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements are anticipated to be signed during the visit, which aims to boost bilateral cooperation.

India and Spain share a close and friendly relationship, revitalised following Prime Minister Modi's visit to Spain in 2017. President Sanchez’s upcoming visit presents a significant opportunity to review and deepen the partnership across various sectors, including trade and investment, IT, innovation, infrastructure, renewable energy, defence and security, pharmaceuticals, agro-tech, bio-tech, culture, and tourism.
