Tension escalated in Ashok Nagar on Saturday as Bandi Sanjay , minister of state, was taken into custody while leading a march toward the Telangana State Secretariat . Sanjay had planned to meet chief minister A Revanth Reddy , demanding the immediate withdrawal of Government Order (GO) No. 29, which has sparked protests among Group-I job aspirants .

Earlier, Sanjay had met with the unemployed candidates at the BJP state headquarters in Nampally, expressing solidarity with their ongoing three-day protest. The candidates, particularly those from SC, ST, and BC communities, argue that GO No. 29 undermines reservations and is detrimental to their prospects.

As Sanjay arrived in Ashok Nagar, the number of protesters swelled, with many chanting slogans like “Down Down CM” and “Repeal G.O. 29.” As per reports, despite efforts by police to control the crowd, the protest intensified, leading to a standoff. The minister accused the Congress government of using force to silence peaceful demonstrations and even joined the protesters by sitting on the road in defiance.

The situation became more volatile as the police, after multiple requests for Sanjay to leave, intervened when he attempted to lead the protesters to the Secretariat. He was detained, preventing further escalation as the protest continued, with demands for justice and the repeal of the contentious order.
