Congress wants Article 370 but ignores PoK, says PM Modi at Palwal rally in Haryana

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during a rally in Palwal, Haryana, accusing the party of using caste and religion to divide the nation. Speaking to a large gathering on Tuesday, PM Modi criticized Congress for its alleged double standards, claiming that the party aims to "crush patriotism" by promoting divisions.

"Congress says it will bring back Article 370 , but never talks about bringing PoK back. Can a party that makes Pakistan happy make Haryana happy?" PM Modi said, questioning the party's commitment to national integrity .

Congress failed to solve national issues, claims PM Modi

In his address, the Prime Minister accused Congress of prioritizing its own interests over the nation’s needs. He argued that the party intentionally kept crucial issues unresolved to maintain control.

"Congress kept every issue important for the country entangled... They did not allow Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya. Congress did not allow the Constitution to be fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. They deprived our sisters of reservation in Parliament and Assembly. Congress kept our Muslim sisters entangled in the problem of triple talaq," said PM Modi.

He went on to state that Congress has done little to solve the country’s problems, instead focusing on establishing its own political dynasty. “Congress wants to crush patriotism from this country by propagating casteism, confronting one community against another,” PM Modi said.

Calls for unity and support from Jammu and Kashmir voters

PM Modi expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and urged voters in Jammu and Kashmir to participate in the final phase of elections.

"Today's gathering shows the result of the Haryana election... But today the last phase of voting is taking place in Jammu and Kashmir. I would like to ask all the voters of Jammu and Kashmir to cast their vote," he added.

Congress’s stance on MSP and false promises

The Prime Minister also criticized Congress for making hollow promises regarding the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers. He accused the party of only offering limited support to farmers during its time in power.

"Today, Congress talks big about MSP, but when it was in power, it only gave MSP on 3-4 crops," PM Modi pointed out, emphasizing the broader support his government has extended to farmers.

He further accused Congress of relying on false promises rather than hard work. "Congress's formula is neither work nor let others work. Congress's politics is limited to false promises, while BJP's politics is focused on hard work and showing results," he said.

Infighting and Dalit backlash against Congress

Highlighting internal conflicts within the Congress party, PM Modi claimed that the most dissatisfied individuals within the party are from the Dalit, backward, and deprived communities.

"The people here are also seeing the conflict that is going on within Congress in Haryana. The angriest with Congress are from the Dalit, backward and deprived community. The Dalit community has also decided that they will not become a pawn to enhance the politics of the father and son," PM Modi asserted.

He further accused Congress of abandoning reservations for Dalits and backward classes, citing the example of Karnataka. "As soon as the Congress government was formed there, they snatched the reservation of Dalits and backward classes and distributed it among their vote bank," he said.

Congress is "deceitful and dishonest," says PM Modi

Modi continued his attack, describing Congress as "the most deceitful and dishonest party in the country." He pointed to Himachal Pradesh as an example, where he claimed Congress had failed to deliver on its electoral promises.

"People are asking Congress what happened to your promises and Congress is asking the people, who are you?" he said, adding that the party's behavior is an insult to the public.

Call for unity in Haryana ahead of state polls

The Prime Minister urged Haryana’s citizens to remain united and cast their votes in favor of the country’s future.

"Today the whole of Haryana has to take a pledge - all those who love India will remain united, we are one and we will vote unitedly for the country," Modi stated, emphasizing the importance of voting for jobs, investment, and the safety of future generations.

PM Modi also noted that Haryana has a history of voting in alignment with the central government, suggesting that the state would likely choose BJP for the third consecutive time. "You formed the BJP government in Delhi for the third time, and now you people have decided to form the BJP government here in Haryana also for the third time," he declared.

Haryana CM Saini accuses Congress of "lie and rule"

Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini also took aim at Congress, accusing the party of using deceit as a political strategy. "The British used to say 'divide and rule,' but Congress says 'lie and rule,'" Saini remarked.

He highlighted the achievements of the BJP government, particularly in providing basic amenities to the poor under schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Ayushman Bharat. "We have changed the lives of the poor who were left to fend for themselves by the previous governments... All this has happened in 10 years, under the BJP government," Saini said.

Haryana’s upcoming assembly elections

Haryana is set to go to the polls on October 5 to elect its 90-member state legislative assembly, with counting scheduled for October 8. In the 2019 elections, the BJP secured 40 seats, emerging as the single largest party, while Congress won 30 seats.

As the election campaign heats up, the BJP has intensified its attacks on Congress, focusing on key issues like caste politics , national integrity, and the welfare of the poor.
