'Rumours are just rumours': Google makes fun of upcoming iPhone design leaks

Google Pixel vs Apple iPhone is back. In a lighthearted exchange, Pixel and iPhone have playfully addressed the numerous rumours swirling around the iPhone’s anticipated redesign. The conversation, part of a promotional campaign, saw the two smartphone personalities engage in a humorous discussion about innovation and the trend of one brand seemingly adopting features launched by the other.

The exchange began with Pixel introducing itself and its “friend,” iPhone. Pixel then directly addressed the ongoing speculation about iPhone's upcoming redesign, labeling the rumours as “crazy.”

Following this humorous back-and-forth, both Pixel and iPhone adopted a more direct tone, seemingly addressing the audience to downplay the redesign rumours, saying, “Rumours are just rumours”.

iPhone 17 may come with Pixel 9-like camera visor
Several leaks and rumours suggest that Apple’s next iPhone series, which may be called iPhone 17 series, may come with a Google Pixel-like horizontal pill-shaped module towards the top of the panel. The visor is said to house cameras.

iPhone then playfully retorted, questioning the likelihood of it "doing the same thing you did first years later," seemingly referencing the Pixel's history of introducing features that later appear on iPhones.

Pixel jokingly dismissed this notion as "pretty far fetched." However, iPhone continued with a series of examples, recalling instances such as Pixel's launch of Night Sight, followed by iPhone's Night Mode a year later, which Pixel brushed off as a "total coincidence."

iPhone further highlighted Pixel's introduction of Magic Eraser, with the iPhone receiving a similar "Clean Up" feature three years later, prompting a somewhat sheepish acknowledgement from Pixel.

This is one of several marketing ads that Google has made to promote its features.
