Braves and Marlins forced to cancel April 6 game and rearrange pitching plans ahead of Doubleheader

The Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins Sunday, April 6, 2025, baseball game was canceled due to poor weather conditions. It was unsafe to play due to rain, and the game was canceled around 90 minutes before when it was meant to start. This was a letdown for fans who had attended to watch the game at Truist Park . But safety is paramount, and the weather just did not permit safe conditions to play. Both officials and teams concurred it was the correct decision.

Today’s game against the Miami Marlins has been postponed due to inclement weather.  This game has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 9th at 1:15 PM ET as part of a split doubleheader. Gates will open at 11:30 AM ET for the 1:15 PM ET game.

This new proposal allows both clubs to complete the entire season without their schedules being greatly affected. Spectators who possess tickets for the game that has been rescheduled are free to apply for them on August 9.
Pitching changes for both teams as they move ahead with their new schedulesThe delay in the game has also brought a few alterations to the Braves' starting rotation. Grant Holmes was initially scheduled to start the game on the 6th of April. Now, Chris Sale will be pitching the next game against the Philadelphia Phillies instead. Holmes will be pitching later in the series.

The Marlins' coaches will also rearrange their pitcher lineup to remain on course. Both squads now have to prepare carefully as they carry on with the season. The Braves will now focus on their next game against the Phillies, while the Marlins will go on to the next game. Although the postponement was not desirable, both teams were prepared to proceed.

This August doubleheader should be thrilling, particularly because both teams belong to the same division. With playoffs on the horizon, each game will matter, and fans can anticipate a high-stakes day of baseball.
