On World Health Day, actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu shed light on her ongoing health journey and opened up about her struggles with myositis. The actress, who was diagnosed with the autoimmune condition over two years ago, has since been spreading awareness and motivation to fans by sharing her experiences, health, exercise and diet tips.
“I am not really coming from the position of being a star, but from the position of being someone who is going through a condition myself,” Samantha said in an interview with Hindustan Times. “I find the need to share my story because it can be a bit of a lonely and helpless position to be in when you're going through a health condition.”
She was quick to clarify that her intent is not to become a spokesperson for health issues but rather to offer “just a little helping hand.”
Reflecting on how an illness can "You really don't have problems until you have a health issue,” she said, reflecting on how chronic illness can dramatically shift one’s perspective on life.
Opening up about her commitment to a healthy lifestyle, the actress said, “My greatest flex right now are my health markers which are quite phenomenal and something that I'm extremely proud of.”
On the work front, Samantha, turned producer with the film ‘Subham’. Sharing the teaser of the film, Samantha wrote, “Presenting to you our little labour of love. A small team with big dreams! We’re incredibly grateful for this journey and what we’ve created together. We truly hope you enjoy our film… and may this be the start of something truly special!”
