Shah Rukh Khan’s cult classic ‘Duplicate’ completed 27 years on May 8, 2025, and while fans continue to celebrate its songs, comic timing, and SRK’s iconic double role, here’s a lesser-known gem: Kajol made a cameo in the film!
Remember the hilarious train station scene?Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, 'Duplicate' featured Shah Rukh Khan in a never-before-seen double avatar, the cheerful chef Bablu Chaudhry, and the sinister gangster Manu Dada. With Juhi Chawla and Sonali Bendre as the female leads, the film was packed with action, humour, and drama. But only a few remember that Kajol appeared briefly in a hilarious train station scene that remains a fan favourite to this day.
In the cameo, SRK’s character Bablu was upset as he said bye to his mother (played by Farida Jalal) at the railway station. Heartbroken and throwing a tantrum, he promised that he would marry an "ugly girl." Just then, Kajol walked past, and the 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' background score played. Shah Rukh quipped, “Behenji, kya aap mujhse shaadi karengi?” to which Kajol replied, “Chee. No!” and stormed off, calling “Raj,” a nod to their beloved DDLJ characters. It was a sweet, you-blink-and-you-miss moment that delighted fans.
It was not a random cameo role
As reported by Bollywood Shaadis, the cameo wasn’t random. Kajol reportedly did it as a gesture of friendship for Shah Rukh, showcasing the strong bond they’ve shared since their early 90s hits.
