Kochi: A 22-year-old man was arrested following a woman's complaint that he sent her obscene videos on Instagram. The arrested person, identified as Saugandh, a native of Kozhikode and studying in Bengaluru, was apprehended by the cyber police. The action was taken based on a complaint from a Tripunithura-based woman who is working as a model.
Police have invoked charges, including those for insulting womanhood, sexual harassment and sections of the IT Act. According to police, the accused became acquainted with the woman through Instagram. He expressed interest in collaborating with her professionally. Subsequently, he sent her obscene photos and videos multiple times. Following this, the woman filed a complaint at the Kakkanad Cyber Crime police station. The accused was presented in court and remanded in judicial custody.
Two held with drugs: Two men were arrested with 4.23g of MDMA and 1.70g of ganja by Kochi city police on Thursday. The arrested persons were identified as Manoj Kumar alias Rajeev, 36, of Thevara and Nikhil M S alias Appu, 29, of Elamkulam. They were apprehended by Ernakulam South police.
According to the police, the accused were arrested based on a tip-off. They were arrested with the contraband near Karimpurath Road at Girinagar.
