Kochi: Students in the district achieved academic excellence in the Class X board exams, with a remarkable pass rate of 99.76%. The schools in the district performed better than the state average of 99.51%. However, the pass percentage declined by 0.35% as 99.86% of students cleared the exams last year.
In the district, a total of 32,546 students appeared across 325 exam centres, among them 32,468 qualified for higher education.
Speaking to TOI, deputy director of education (DDE) Honey G Alexander said that among the 334 schools in the district, 101 were govt schools, 177 aided schools and 56 unaided schools. Among these, 266 schools ensured a 100% success rate. "Among the schools that had a 100% pass rate were 83 govt schools, 138 aided schools and 45 unaided schools," said Alexander.
Ernakulam Govt Girls Higher Secondary School has achieved a 100% success rate for the second consecutive year. School headmistress Diana Kurien shared her happiness, "In our school, 95 students appeared for the exam and we have 11 students with full A+ grades. Nine students who secured 9 A+s are considering revaluation. We are incredibly proud of the achievements of all our students."
Minimol VV, headmistress of GHSS Edappally, said that among the 93 students who appeared in the examinations, everyone has become eligible for higher education. "The students and teachers are happy with the results, and seven students have secured full A+," said Minimol.
In the district, 16,773 boys appeared for the examination, where 16,726 were found eligible for higher education, giving them a pass rate of 99.72%. Meanwhile, 16,095 girls appeared for the exams and 16,063 were qualified (99.8%). The Ernakulam revenue district is divided into four educational sub-districts: Aluva, Ernakulam, Kothamangalam and Muvattupuzha.
Among them, Aluva educational district emerged as the top among the four sub-districts, with 2,199 students achieving full A+ (734 boys and 1,465 girls).
