Patna: Railways has floated an e-tender worth Rs 61.73 crore for a comprehensive infrastructure development at Saharsa station, which falls under Samastipur division of East Central Railway (ECR), said Samastipur divisional railway manager (DRM) Vinay Srivastava.
The DRM said the proposed development includes, the construction of four new platforms, yard remodelling and the construction of a goods shed siding with an adjoining pathway. "These upgrades are part of a broader effort to cater to the growing demand of passengers and ensure smoother handling of both passenger and freight trains at this station," he said.
A key feature of this project also involves the filling up of earth to facilitate new railway lines and the shifting of 31 special crossing gate, a move that is expected to improve safety and operational efficiency across the network in the region, Srivastava said, adding these enhancements are designed to not only expand the station's capacity but also improve train punctuality and reduce congestion during the peak hours.
