Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav on Saturday reiterated his govt's commitment to continuing all initiatives launched by former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, saying MP was firmly on course to becoming a developed state.

Speaking at a mass marriage ceremony under the Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana at Pipalani village in Sehore district, Yadav said such state-supported events had transformed what was once a financial burden on poor and farming families into a celebration of dignity. A total of 572 couples from the Gond tribal community tied the knot at the event.

Yadav emphasised that mass marriages have transformed what was once a financial burden for poor families, especially farmers, into a dignified celebration supported by the state. Recalling the origins of the scheme, he noted how Chouhan had initially arranged weddings for daughters of the underprivileged through voluntary contributions before the government institutionalised the programme.

The CM said these ceremonies not only reduce extravagant expenditures but also promote social unity and financial discipline. In Sanatan Dharma, marriage is not just a bond between bride and groom, but also a union of two families. He also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 170.42 crore in the Budhni constituency.

Projects include road networks, medical colleges, garment factories, and development works at Devlok in Salkanpur. He added that work on Devshri Jageshwar Mahadev Lok in Bandakpur, Damoh, has also commenced recently. Yadav reiterated his government's commitment to continuing all initiatives launched by Chouhan.

Highlighting progress in agriculture and animal husbandry, CM Yadav mentioned that wheat is being procured at Rs 2,600 per quintal, and farmers are receiving a 25–33% subsidy under the Dr BR Ambedkar Kamdhenu Scheme. The government aims to increase milk production from 9% to 20%, and every block will develop a model "Vrindavan Gram."

On national security, Yadav affirmed that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India has responded strongly with three surgical strikes. Referring to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, he said "Operation Sindoor" had targeted terrorist bases in Pakistan. "India's power is visible to the world," he added.

Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan called India a unique country where shehnais (wedding instruments) and war drums echo simultaneously. "We will not tolerate any hostile intentions toward India," he declared, urging the newlyweds and citizens to stand united with the nation and armed forces.
