DMK will vanish after 2026 assembly elections in TN: L Murugan

NAMAKKAL: The DMK is poised to suffer its worst defeat in its history during the 2026 elections, Union minister of state L Murugan said on Saturday. “The DMK will vanish after the upcoming polls,” Murugan told reporters in Namakkal.

Murugan said the alliance between the AIADMK and the BJP was robust, asserting that the National Democratic Alliance would secure a majority and form the govt in Tamil Nadu after the 2026 elections, leading to the DMK's removal from power.

He criticised chief minister M K Stalin for hindering the state’s development by adopting a confrontational stance with the central government. “Even former chief minister Karunanidhi maintained a cooperative relationship with the Centre,” the minister said.

He accused the DMK of staging a false narrative on the NEET issue. He pointed out that when the NEET had been implemented, a DMK member from Namakkal had served as a Union minister, suggesting that the party had the power to intervene at that time.

Murugan visited Narasimha and Anjaneyar temples on the Namakkal Fort Road, where he performed rituals for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He then proceeded to the NAMO Free Competitive Exam Training Centre on the Mohanur Road to interact with the students.
