Pune: Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said he had proposed to rename Pune Airport as Sant Tukaram Airport. He added that an official proposal will be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for further consideration, and that they would not rest until the name is changed. The minister was speaking at a ceremony where he laid the foundation stone for two national highway projects in Pune worth Rs 899 Crore. "We have proposed to rename the airport as Sant Tukaram Airport, we will send proposal to Delhi to PM and will not stop until the name is changed," said union minister Nitin Gadkari. He added that the further action will be taken after a consultation with PM Modi. Meanwhile, Pune Airport is on full swing to intensify its services, transforming itself in a world-class facility to cater to maximum passengers, and provide them maximum domestic and international trips.
Pune Airport International FlightsRecently, Minister of State (MoS) for civil aviation Murlidhar Mohol announced that Pune Airport would provide two new international flight services from October 27 onwards -- Pune-Dubai and Pune-Bangkok. The additional trips will be operated by IndiGo Airlines, which will run direct flights to Dubai from Pune everyday. Meanwhile, Pune-Bangkok flight will fly three times in a week, giving flyers a big relief. The Pune Airport director also affirmed the news.
