It goes without saying that a team needs to pick 20 wickets to win a Test match. There's no shortcut to success and even though batters are equally important, it is the bowlers who set up the win. India today are a brute force in international cricket and the reason for the tremendous turnaround is their quality bowling attack. There was a time when India had the most feared batting lineup, comprising the Tendulkar's and Dravid's, yet they struggled to win overseas. Why? Because they lacked an all-round bowling attack. They did well at home courtesy of good spinners but struggled abroad as they did not have enough fast bowling strength. India today though have a plethora of quality pacers who make India a lethal opposition away from home, something that was hard to think of a decade ago.
'Happy That India Celebrates Jaspirt Bumrah': R AshwinAce India spinner R Ashwin is a key pillar of India's bowling attack, however, he feels that pacer Jasprit Bumrah is the 'most valuable player in the Indian team' right now. Ashwin said India is a batting-dominated country and he is happy that the country celebrated Jasprit Bumrah, who is once in a generation bowler'. “India has always been the country that is a batsman-dominated country, and it’s never going to change. But I am so glad and happy that we are celebrating Jasprit Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah is a once-in-a-generation bowler. We should celebrate him even more. We Chennai people appreciate bowlers a lot. He was here for an event as a chief guest 4-5 days ago. We gave him a Rajni treatment. We (Chennai people) treat bowlers very nicely. He should be treated as a champion. I don’t want to name, but Jasprit Bumrah is the most valuable Indian cricketer right now,” Ashwin said while speaking to journalist Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel.Bumrah has been in red-hot form of late and will play a massive role in India's packed Test calendar that will see the team play two Tests against Bangladesh and three Tests against New Zealand before facing Australia in five Test matches. You may also like
