With Iran's last night offensive on Israel where it launched close to 200 missiles, things have escalated quickly in the region with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling the act a "big mistake". Though the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to have thwarted most of the missiles fired by Iran with the help of the country's advanced missile defence systems, including the Iron Dome and Arrow systems, several projectiles managed to penetrate the defence shield, leading to minor damage and light injuries.The Israeli PM has already issued a warning to Iran that it "will pay for it." Meanwhile, the United States has also taken stock of the situation as National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan issued a stark warning to Iran, stating that the missile strike represented a "significant escalation" and that there would be "severe consequences." The US has already pledged support to Israel in any retaliatory measures. Biden confirmed that the US military would support Israel's defence and intercept any further Iranian missile strikes. What Iran Said After The Attack On Israel?Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the missile attack on three Israeli military bases near Tel Aviv. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated that the assault would end unless Israel escalated the situation. The IRGC also warned that any Israeli retaliation would lead to "crushing attacks."Iran stated that it launched missiles into Israel in retaliation for attacks that resulted in the deaths of key leaders from Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Iranian military. It specifically referenced Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Revolutionary Guard General Abbas Nilforushan, both killed in an Israeli airstrike last week in Beirut. Additionally, it mentioned Ismail Haniyeh, a senior Hamas leader who was assassinated in Tehran in a suspected Israeli attack in July.
