Marcellus Williams' Last Statement Before Execution Surfaces: 'All Praise Be....'

Marcellus Williams, a Missouri man, was executed Tuesday for breaking in and murdering a woman in the state's St. Louis area in 1998. As the 55-year-old went to the death row, his last statement before being given a lethal injection was shared on social media. Emmy-winning journalist Alexis Zotos shared Williams' last statement on X. Marcellus Williams wrote, "All Praise Be To Allah In Every Situation."

Williams, who had stabbed Lisha Gayle at her home in St Louis in 1998, was denied clemency Monday by both the Missouri Governor and the Supreme Court. As per the prosecutors in Marcellus Williams' trial, he had broken into the home of 42-year-old St. Louis Post-Dispatch journalist Lisha Gayle. On entering the home, he heard the shower running and a butcher knife lying around. She was stabbed 43 times and her purse, along with her husband's laptop, were stolen.Williams was the third Missouri inmate put to death this year and the 100th since the state resumed use of the death penalty in 1989, the Associated Press reported.
