Israel carried out "precise strikes" on Iran on Saturday, targeting several military bases near Tehran in response to Tehran's attacks on Israel. Iranian state TV, meanwhile, said operations at Tehran's airports, including Imam Khomeini International airport, are continuing as usual.The Middle East has been on edge in anticipation of Israel's retaliatory strikes after Iran fired over 200 ballistic missiles at Israel, Iran's second direct attack on Israel in six months."In response to months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against the State of Israel – right now the Israel Defense Forces is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran," the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement."Our defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized," it added.'Not Targeting Nuclear Facilities Or Oil Fields'An Israeli official said that Iranian nuclear facilities or oil fields are not on the target of Israel's airstrikes."We’re targeting things that might have threatened us in the past or could do in the future," the official was quoted saying by NBC.The Biden Administration had urged Israel not to strike such targets, while backing Israel’s right to respond to Iran’s October 1 ballistic missile attack.According to news agency Reuters, the United States was not involved in the operation."We understand that Israel is conducting targeted strikes against military targets in Iran as an exercise of self-defense and in response to Iran's ballistic missile attack against Israel on October 1st," said White House National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savett.
