Despite a surprising 3-2 defeat at Fulham, Liverpool's Premier League title hopes remain alive and well. The loss at Craven Cottage marked the end of their impressive 26-game unbeaten streak in the league. Alexis Mac Allister scored the opener for Arne Slot's side, but quick goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz flipped the match on its head. Luis Diaz managed to claw one back for the Reds, but an equaliser eluded them.
However, the title is still within reach for Liverpool, needing just 11 points to secure it, with Arsenal trailing by the same margin. If they can overcome West Ham, Leicester, Tottenham and Chelsea in their upcoming matches, they could potentially clinify the title as early as May 4.
Furthermore, if Arsenal drop any points in their next four games against Brentford, Ipswich, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, Liverpool's path to the title could be even smoother.
Despite being comfortably ahead in the title race, the French defender emphasised the importance of maintaining focus: "We know we have 12 points more than Arsenal but we don't think it's done. We know we have to work a lot and do everything until the end of the season to achieve something special and we work on it every day."
Reflecting on his near misses, Konate remarked, "I was close to winning the Premier League, I was close to winning the Champions League. Every single game I play this season for Liverpool, I just remember how close I was to winning this but I didn't."
He added the crucial reminder that victory is the key to creating lasting memories, "At the end, nobody remembers this moment. For people to remember this, you have to win it. And that's why we have to be focussed and ready."
With West Ham on the horizon next Sunday at Anfield, Liverpool's campaign steers towards a crucial phase. Should they seal the Premiership title soon, they would lift the trophy against Crystal Palace come Sunday May 25.
