UK weather maps show exact date 33 hour snow barrage hits - full list of counties

Parts of the UK are braced for snowfall this weekend as temperatures plummet across the nation. According to the latest weather maps from WX Charts, some Brits are in store for a 33-hour barrage of snow.

The maps show the snow arriving at 6am on Saturday, October 25 before persisting until 3pm on Sunday, October 26. It comes as forecasters expected the mercury to dip below freezing this weekend with icy conditions expected alongside a band of rain. WX Charts has predicted snow to fall in parts of Scotland, including Inverness and the Highlands.

According to the maps, 1cm of snow was expected to fall in the Scottish Highlands and Moray at 6am on Saturday morning. The areas are known for cold and snowy weather.

At 12pm on Saturday, the forecasters expect 0.8cm of snow to fall per hour in the same areas. Meanwhile, Perth and Kinross will also see its first snowfall of the weekend at the same rate.

The flurries are expected to be heavier on Sunday with WX Charts predicting up to 5cm to fall per hour at 12pm. The areas affected will be the Scottish Highlands and Moray.

The snow will ease by 3pm, but Moray will see flurries of up to 0.5cm per hour. By this point, the white stuff is likely to have settled in the Scottish Highlands.

Meanwhile, according to weather maps by Wxcharts, the majority of England will feel chilly this weekend, with temperatures dropping. The south will sit between 2 and 3c, and the north will range from below zero to 1C.

The coldest weather has been forecast inland, with a patch of icy conditions between Northumberland and Cumbria. The Met Office is also predicting a wet weekend ahead.

Showers continuing across some western and northern areas tonight. Elsewhere, mainly dry and clear allowing it to turn chilly, with a patchy frost particularly in the north. Remaining breezy.

Sunday:

A mainly dry and bright start, however cloud and rain will gradually move in from the northwest, but not reaching the southeast until early evening. Feeling cold once again.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Remaining changeable with some further rain or showers at times, especially in the northwest. Always driest and brightest towards the southeast. Temperatures recovering to near average for most.
