Roast potatoes are one of our favourite things about Sundays, which is typically when roast dinners tend to be served across the country.
However, a Michelin-trained chef has shared a type of spud you should consider instead. In fact, she thinks it's her best of all time.
Poppy O'Toole, who has become known as the 'Potato Queen' on TikTok, revealed why cutting tatties into smaller cubes can be even more delicious.
While bigger and fluffier potatoes are the norm for Sunday lunch, Poppy says making them more bite-sized helps them to crisp up and get even crunchier. It's a total game-changer if you're looking to get more texture on your plate.
Intrigued about how to make them? Thankfully, Poppy shared her foolproof method with her 4.8 million online followers. Here's all you need to know.
Ingredients you'll need- Potatoes - Poppy recommends Maris Piper or Yukon Gold
- A generous glug of vegetable oil
- Flavourings like garlic, parmesan and rosemary
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat your oven to 180C
- Cut the potatoes into even-sized cubes and par boil them in salted water until tender, which should take just over five minutes
- Drain the spuds and let them steam dry for around 10 minutes
- Preheat a glug of oil in a baking tray until it's piping hot
- Carefully tip the cubed potatoes into the pre-heated baking tray, which should cause a sizzling sound
- Roast for 30 minutes, then give them a toss and cook for a further 15 minutes if they need more colour
- Get the spuds out of the oven, then season with flavourings of your choice. Poppy recommends roasted garlic, rosemary leaves and lashings of grated parmesan
- Then it's time to enjoy!
Poppy's simple recipe has garnered more than 17,500 likes at the time of writing. Plenty of foodies also took to the comments section to rave about the recipe.
