Sarah Ferguson may have divorced Prince Andrew in 1996, but this has certainly not stopped her from living like a royal. The Duchess of York, 65, is believed to have lived an extravagant life in the past, which is believed to be one reason why she ended up with a large debt.
While Sarah herself has been open about her financial struggles before, once telling Oprah Winfrey that she had been "running up huge debt," she has never disclosed some of the ways in which she wasted money. However, a royal author has now revealed this.
In his book Entitled, royal historian Andrew Lownie said that the Duchess of York, who has come under fire this week after it emerged she apologised to Jeffrey Epstein in 2011 when he was released from prison, had a feast like Henry VIII for dinner every night.
It is believed the author was told this by one of the duchess' former staff members, who had been sacked.
The staff member reportedly said: "Every night she (Sarah) demands a whole side of beef, a leg of lamb and a chicken, which are laid out on the dining room table like a mediaeval banquet.
"It's a feast that would make Henry VIII proud. But often there is just her and her girls Bea and Eugenie and most of it is wasted.
"There is no attempt to keep it to have cold the next day."

Elsewhere in Lownie's book, it was claimed that Sarah was not only wasteful and extravagant when it came to dinners years ago but also in other aspects of her life.
This includes her holidays, with sources telling Lownie that the duchess would miss non-refundable flights and often bring with her plenty of suitcases, which would see her have to pay lots more money for excess baggage.
It is believed the late Queen would reportedly settle some of the duchess's debts for her.
