Not everyone is lucky enough to have a garden large enough for a big storage shed. But many people still need a weatherproof outdoor storage solution for odds and ends - tools, gardening products, even furniture - and the good news is that there's alternative to a massive shed for keeping these items tucked away.
Amazon has an outdoor garden storage shed that's much smaller than the average wooden structure, allowing people with little gardens or even balconies to store outdoor items without taking up too much precious outside space. The , which is currently 20% off at £125 in light grey, has shoppers raving about its utility in smaller gardens.
The shed's dimensions are a manageable 71.5cm x 132cm x 113.5cm, which is big enough to fit two 120L wheelie bins or miscellaneous garden tools, BBQ equipment, or even bikes. It features wood effect panels which are weatherproof, keeping the items inside safe from rain and wind, and it has a heavy-duty floor with built-in support for shelving.
With an 880 litre capacity, there's plenty of space to tuck away odds and ends, and the storage box can be opened from the top or the front for easy access. Plus, it is lockable for security, so shoppers can rest assured their items are safe inside.
When it comes to outdoor storage, there are plenty of options out there. For example, Argos has the , which is more of a trunk-style unit than a shed, for £33 down from £45. Its generous capacity can be used for anything from furniture cushions and blankets to garden equipment, and it doubles up as a seating bench for two. Plus, shoppers can add their own padlock for extra security, and it's weather resistant, too.
Meanwhile, Screwfix has its for £99.99 which, like the Amazon model, has front-opening double doors and a lift-up lid for easy access. It's weather resistant and rot resistant and has a 775 litre capacity, with a sturdy metal frame structure and a gas cylinder-powered lid to avoid heaving the top open.
The storage box on Amazon - which also comes in Dark Grey or Beige Brown for a bit extra - One shopper testified to its durability, writing: "The shed withstood Storm Darragh! Very pleased with the purchase and does the job. The shed was bone dry even after all the rain we received during the storm."
"Assembly pretty straightforward and no damaged or missing parts. Plenty of room for the items I needed to store and seems pretty watertight," another said.
A third said: "I wanted a shed to hide my bins and boxes to make my patio look tidier and this did the job perfectly. A bonus was that it was big enough to hold a few other patio items, ie. table and umbrella."
Another shopper added that while "this is exactly what we were looking for and it's doing the job by keeping the bikes dry", they ran into some issues with durability and assembly.
"It was a bit of a mare to assemble," they said, adding that it's "worth persevering, I think, but if you're looking for something strong and thief-proof then you might be better off paying a bit more and getting a stronger one."
Some also had problems with the gas struts, with one shopper explaining: "The only issue is that the gas struts failed within a couple of days, so the roof of the cupboard no longer holds open on itself. I've been in touch with the seller and they have said they will replace the struts, however they are out of stock and on 'back order' so could take a while to come. That aside, I still think it was a good product to buy and does the job I wanted it to."
It's good to know that there is a space-saving storage solution like the for those with smaller gardens and balconies, which could make the garden so much tidier for the summer months.
