Meghan Markle made a blunder over the weekend when she posted a video of Prince Harry carving a pumpkin. While The Duchess of Sussex, 44, presumably only wanted her husband in the shot, the video ended up showing the faces of their children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, as they ran around in the background.
This resulted in Meghan tweaking the video, with the duchess and her husband reportedly feeling strongly about their children's faces not being made public. This is believed to be a result of their desire to keep their children out of the public spotlight for as long as possible.
However, while it is believed they want their children to have this privacy in their childhood, there is also a very real and very sad reason why they don't want their faces to be shown.
This is believed to be out of fear for their safety.
A source previously told PEOPLE: "Harry has been reluctant to show his children publicly, not out of a desire to hide them but to protect their privacy and safety from potential threats.
"He wants them to lead as normal a life as possible without the fear of kidnapping or harm."
While Meghan has posted photographs of her children on Instagram before, their full faces are never shown.
For example, when they visited Disney earlier this year, Meghan only posted photographs either of her children from the back or with emojis covering their faces.
This is something that is not expected to change anytime soon, especially not until the children are older.
Harry and Meghan have frequently shared their concerns about social media.
