The deeply personal journey began with assistance from his uncle Charles Spencer, who helped navigate through stubborn mud before they rowed to the island burial site.
"No visit to this place was ever easy, but this one... twenty-fifth anniversary," Harry reflects in his writing. "And Meg's first time. At long last, I was bringing the girl of my dreams home to meet mum."
Harry recounts hesitating with Meghan before he approached alone to lay flowers and seek counsel from his mother silently.
"We hesitated, hugging, and then I went first. I placed flowers on the grave. Meg gave me a moment, and I spoke to my mother in my head, told her I missed her, asked her for guidance and clarity," he writes.
He shares the tender moment when Meghan took her turn to pay respects at his mothers resting place.
the brother of the late has touchingly revealed that he visits his sister's resting place "pretty much every day" despite it being 27 years since the beloved royal's untimely death.
During an appearance on Tuesday's episode of Charles recounted his frequent visits to Diana's grave, located at the Spencer family's ancestral home, Althorp, where he has been the custodian since the passing of their father, John Spencer, 8th Earl Spencer, in 1992.
The burial site of the former Princess of Wales is situated on a scenic island within an ornamental lake, hidden away in the Pleasure Garden of Althorp Park. The serene spot, which is closed to the public, can only be reached by boat and is reserved for visits by Diana's nearest and dearest.
"Last week, one of her closest childhood friends came and was on the island. And that was so nice," Spencer, who holds the title of 9th Earl Spencer, shared with viewers.
Spencer, who delivered a moving tribute to Diana at her funeral in September 1997, continues to grieve for his sister daily, nearly three decades after her tragic passing.
"I'm sure pretty much everyone watching this program has had trauma in their family at some point," he expressed on the flagship ITV morning show. "And, like everyone else, you sort of get used to it without it ever going away."
Diana's younges son, also still feels the sting of her loss, and revealed in his memoir "Spare" that while his late mother's grave is secluded now, it was not always so removed from the public. He disclosed that a bridge allowing people to visit once existed, but it was dismantled due to security worries.
"The bridge had been removed, to give my mother privacy, to keep intruders away," Prince Harry noted in his book.
In "Spare," the Duke of Sussex also opens up about the profound effect his mother's death has had on him and describes the emotional occasion when he brought his wife, to her graveside for the first time in 2022. The visit fell on what would have been Diana's 25th death anniversary.
"Feeling that Meg might also want a moment, I went around the hedge, scanned the pond. When I came back, Meg was kneeling, eyes shut, palms against the stone."
Prince Harry shared a poignant moment, stating, "I asked, as we walked back to the boat, what she'd prayed for," to which he revealed her response: "Clarity, she said. And guidance."
