Prince Louis given very adorable nickname by Princess Kate - and it couldn't be more apt

The Princess of Wales accidentally let slip Prince Louis' adorable nickname as she took part in her first royal engagement since 2023.

The prince was by his mother's side as they took part in the Big Help Out at the 3rd Scouts Hut in Slough.

Louis was seen helping out as he reset a path and pushed a wheelbarrow and even tried his hand as a digger operator with his father Prince William.

After a day's hard work, The Wales' three children were deservedly rewarded with toasted marshmallows over a campfire. It was here that Kate let slip the six-year-old's nickname as she said: "Pop that on the fire Lou-bugs."

Louis' appetite was big enough for him to find room for a marshmallow sandwich after Mum and a scout leader gave him a helping hand in putting it together as William remarked: "You won't hear a peep out of him now."

The footage shows the family enjoying time together after a difficult year for them all. Following their marshmallow treats, the family had a great time doing archery, despite the bows towering above the kids.

Louis and George did well, managing to hit the target, but it was Princess Charlotte who stole the show, hitting an instant bullseye to show the boys how it is done.

Scout leader Simon Carter later told HELLO! that the family had driven themselves to Slough and noted: "Louis was really excited. They all got presented with a Big Help Out badge at the end, so they all got a Scouts scarf.

"He was the one who ran away with the wheelbarrow. He was the one who was digging sand and getting stuck in and doing things."

Prince Louis is no stranger to stealing the show, after several displays of boisterous behaviour and disregard for royal protocol during public events endeared him to the nation.

From screaming from the Buckingham Palace balcony as planes flew overhead, or shushing his mother with a hand over her mouth, the young Prince seems to have a knack of warming the hearts of onlookers with his cheeky, boyish charm.
