John Torode and his wife Lisa Faulkner are back with their self-titled ITV show, John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen. The couple, who tied the knot in 2019, opened up about the latest series of their cooking show where John made a candid admission. While the pair love making delicious dishes that their audience can simply follow, the 59-year-old admitted he finds one particular food "daunting".
Speaking to the Herald magazine, John confessed: "Cooking a steak is basic but also daunting. A steak is simply not cheap, and there are so many different types of steaks which come in different thickness and styles." He continued: "My steak masterclass has gone viral on social media, it has worked for me at home and in restaurants for over 30 years, so it has stood the test of time."
However, John was able to still give his best tips on how to make the best steak.
He added: "A hot pan, oil the steak, season well once oiled, cook for two minutes before turning. Enjoy!"
Elsewhere, the MasterChef's former co-star Gregg Wallace will no longer be making an appearance on the BBC show.
Last year the 60-year-old confirmed he was stepping away from MasterChef amid an external review into historical allegations of misconduct.
Wallace faced accusations of making '"inappropriate sexual jokes" and lewd comments on set, asking for the phone numbers of female members of production staff and undressing in front of and standing 'too close' to women working on his shows.
Torode previously shared a statement on Instagram in December following his silence about his former co-star.
He wrote: "Since last Friday I have been away filming MasterChef overseas. I love my job, and I love MasterChef.
"I love being part of it and will continue to be part of it. During the last few days, I've been trying to make the best cookery programme, so being busy making the show and caring for our contestants has allowed me little time to think about anything elsem but that has been hard.
"The thought of anyone who has appeared on our show not having a brilliant experience is awful to hear, and I have found the recent press reports truly upsetting. But as I hope everyone appreciates there is an investigation underway, which I fully support, so I cannot make any furth comment at this stage, and I hope that you all understand and respect my silence on the matter moving forward."
John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen airs Saturday on ITV at 11.40am
