NBA legend Michael Jordan appeared to give an honest take during the morning foursomes at the Ryder Cup. Team Europe were taking on Team USA at Bethpage Black, New York, looking to retain the trophy they won in Rome back in 2023.

Team captains Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley had both had hopes of enjoying a successful foursomes session for their respective teams. It was Team Europe who went on to enjoy the better of the morning session over the United States.

Europe claimed a 3-1 win in the morning foursomes to take a two-point lead into the afternoon fourballs. Tyrell Hatton and Jon Rahm got the first point on the board for Europe with their victory over Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas.

Jordan is an avid golf fan and made the trip to Bethpage Black to show his support for Team USA at this year's Ryder Cup.

Golf.com reporter James Colgan has reported that he was alongside Jordan as Hatton and Rahm took an impressive lead over Team USA in the opening match of the Ryder Cup. Colgan reports that, as Hatton holed a birdie putt to send Europe three-up, Jordan is quoted as having said: "We got problems."

Europe went on to claim convincing wins in the next two matches in the foursomes session, with Ludvig Aberg and Matt Fitzpatrick claiming a 5&3 victory over Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley. That was followed by another victory for Europe as Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood combined to claim a 5&4 win over Collin Morikawa and Harris English.

Donald and the rest of the European team would have been hoping to win all four foursomes matches, but it was not to be in the end. Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay beat Robert MacIntyre and Viktor Hovland by two holes to put some red on the scoreboard after the morning session.

The result of the morning session is one of the best by Team Europe on American soil in recent Ryder Cup history. Europe need to secure another 11 points to retain the trophy or 11.5 to win it outright in the US for the first time since 2012.
