Former United manager confirmed prior to the Brentford victory that Collyer had sustained an injury but did not provide further details.

The Manchester Evening News have since that it is anticipated that Collyer will be benched for 'roughly a month' due to this issue.

Collyer's most recent competitive game for United was when he played for the Under-21s against Liverpool on October 6.

He debuted for England's Under-20s during the October international break, starting two games for the Young Lions, but now faces a brief period on the sidelines.

Nick Cox, head of the academy, presented Collyer with the ball from his Premier League debut encased in a glass box earlier this week, with the young player posing with the keepsake at Carrington.

Collyer was spotted in the directors' box at Old Trafford, seated next to Harry Maguire and Christian Eriksen, during United's 5-2 triumph over Leicester City on Wednesday night.

Speaking enthusiastically about his development and ascension to the main team, Collyer shared with club media: "It's been great.

"I made the transition into the first-team environment, which is what I've always wanted to do. I'm focusing on working hard and trying to kick on and get into the squad."

He added, reminiscing his initial experiences: "I remember being really thrilled and excited, buzzing [when training with the first team for the first time].

"I kept thinking after the first few sessions I need to stay here, this is what I need to do."

Earlier in the year, reports claimed that then-manager Ten Hag 'really liked' Collyer, while another highlighted his exceptional 'freakish' running stats during practice sessions, only surpassed by Bruno Fernandes.

Collyer has created quite a stir at United with his remarkable fitness levels.

The Worthing-born player's work ethic hasn't gone unnoticed, as he was seen during the summer as an integral part of the future first-team brigade by the then-gaffer Ten Hag.

He has earned the reputation as 'very professional,' a testament to his diligence beyond the training pitch, frequently extending his regime at Carrington's gym facilities.
