Police have rushed to the scene on one of the busiest stretches of motorway in the UK after a "serious" crash has sparked travel chaos.
A post on the National Highways website reads: "The M25 in Essex is closed clockwise between J25 Waltham Cross Interchange (Enfield, Hertford A10) and J26 Waltham Abbey Interchange (Waltham Abbey, Loughton A121).
"This is following a serious collision. A collision investigation will be required by the police and therefore this closure is expected to be protracted whilst this is conducted.
"Essex Police, Essex Fire & Rescue, East of England Ambulance Service, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and National Highways Traffic Officers are attending."
Express.co.uk has contacted the emergency services for further information.
