A motoring mechanic has claimed that one popular model could be the "safest" vehicle on the road. TikTok user @OlyAutos has awarded the title to the Volvo XC60 after praising the model for its top build quality.
Volvo is renowned for prioritising safety and experts praising its credentials comes as no surprise. The model is one of the top sellers in the UK market and one of the most popular in Volvo's range. The second-generation XC60 first hit the roads back in 2017 before the model was reprofiled back in 2021.

@OlyAutos said: "This is the world's safest car, and here's why. So I've just found out that the Volvo XC60 has only had one death since being produced. To me, looking at those kinds of stats, this is probably the world's safest car.
"The reason behind that maybe is the structure of the chassis, the way it's built. The quality. And we know Volvo don't compromise when it comes to quality. For me, I would rank this like everyone else would, as one of the safest cars in the world."
Experts at Volvo Insights have also praised the XC60's safety record, describing the model as a "Swedish fortress on wheels".
They explained: "According to our data, the answer is a resounding 'rarely'. That's right, folks - from 2018 to 2021, the Volvo XC60 had a death rate so low it was practically non-existent.
"We're talking zero deaths per million registered vehicle years. It's like the automotive equivalent of finding a unicorn riding a rainbow!"
The Volvo XC60 was crowned the best-performing large off-roader and the car with the best overall performance in the Euro NCAP 2017 Best in Class safety awards. The model achieved a full five-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP assessment, with the model achieving a 98% Adult Occupant score.
Euro NCAP explained: "The passenger compartment of the XC60 remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy readings indicated good protection for all critical body areas of the passenger and of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger.
"Volvo showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions."
The XC60 also scored a 95% score on Safety Assist with specific praise for the car's seatbelt reminder tool, speed assistance system tool and Lane Departure Warning tech.
