Georgie Thompson, once the face of Sky Sports News, is a name that many sports fans will remember, but what does she do now? Football enthusiasts may feel a pang of nostalgia remembering her delivering the latest sports news on the channel.

For over ten years, Georgie was a household name due to her tenure on the show until her departure in 2011. She was also the voice of Premier League Years during its golden era, which is still fondly recalled by supporters.

Post-Sky Sports, she has remained in the public eye, working on various shows and reporting on numerous sports. She also married Olympic legend and Britain's most successful sailor ever, Sir Ben Ainslie.

Now known as Lady Ainslie, some fans might be surprised to learn that the iconic broadcaster is now worth an impressive £8million, according to Famous Networth. The 46-year-old has also spent time working in the USA and currently hosts a popular podcast with her sports star husband.

Thompson kick-started her career as a production assistant for GMTV before landing the opportunity of a lifetime when she joined Sky Sports in January 2001. It was at Sky where Georgie covered a multitude of major sporting events, reports the Mirror.

Audiences may recall Georgie presenting US Open Tennis, F1, Speedway World Cup, the America's Cup and even the 2011 Wimbledon Championships. However, it's likely her stint on Sky Sports News, particularly hosting 'Afternoon Report', that people will remember most.

During her time at Sky, Thompson was a regular panellist on Sky One's A League of Their Own. After stepping down from news hosting duties, she transitioned to a full-time presenting role on Sky Sports F1.

During the 2012 season, Thompson co-hosted The F1 Show with pit-lane reporter Ted Kravitz and took charge of the Sky Pad segment during race weekends. However, in 2013, she made the bold decision to relocate to America.

Stateside, she landed a job with Fox Sports and became a panellist on Regis Philbin's sports talk show Crowd Goes Wild in 2013. The show ran for just over a year before she returned to the UK to take up presenting duties on Radio 5 Live's Fighting Talk.

While Thompson was adored for her insightful and humorous approach to sports broadcasting, her personal life also garnered attention. She was romantically linked with Declan Donnelly of Ant and Dec fame for three years before she met and settled down with Britain's top sailor.

Sir Ben, 47, cemented his status as an Olympic legend by securing gold at four consecutive Games. He also clinched a silver at his final Games in London 2012, making him the most successful sailor in the history of the Games.

Despite Thompson once stating she would never date a sportsman due to the potential heartache, she spoke about her relationship with Sir Ben to The Mail in 2013, describing their meeting as "a thunderbolt moment".

Thompson admitted that initially, they were "in different places" but eventually "the stars aligned" and the couple truly clicked. They tied the knot in December 2014 and are now parents to two children, a daughter, Bellatrix, born in 2016, and a son, Fox, born in 2021.

Their marriage is not only successful on a personal level but also professionally. Georgie and Sir Ben's podcast, Performance People, has been a massive hit. Since its inception, they have hosted big names such as Mercedes CEO Toto Wolff, marathon icon Paula Radcliffe, and Hollywood star Stanley Tucci.
