Coronation Street Dee-Dee's next storyline 'revealed' - but fans are heartbroken

Send Push

Coronation Street's Dee-Dee Bailey, played by Channique Sterling-Brown, is set for more heartache in upcoming episodes.

The character, who debuted in 2022, has quickly become a fan favourite despite her tumultuous storyline.

Recently, she discovered the horrifying truth about her fiance Joel Deering (Calum Lill), who has been grooming and abusing young girls, including Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).

Lauren disappeared in February after being attacked by Joel, only to return in July pregnant with his child. Joel's actions escalated when he tried to kill Lauren and their unborn baby. Thankfully, the baby survived but was born prematurely and remains in hospital.

Joel's 'true' nature has now been revealed, leaving the residents of Weatherfield shocked, especially Dee-Dee who has sworn to bring him to justice.

Last week saw Joel arrested and subsequently released on bail, with hints of his impending downfall in this week's spoilers, reports the Liverpool Echo.

However, fans are already speculating about what lies ahead for Dee-Dee, and it doesn't look promising.

Despite the ongoing drama, Lauren and Dee-Dee have remained united in their efforts to put Joel behind bars. During a recent visit from Social Services, Dee-Dee even offered to let Lauren and Frankie stay with her once they are discharged from the hospital.

As Coronation Streets' fans speculate, concern grows that character Dee-Dee could be facing a devastating mental health plot, with hints she might become fixated on Lauren and Joels baby Frankie.

On a Corrie fan page, one viewer voiced: "I get the feeling that Dee-Dee is not dealing with her emotions with regards to Joel keeping busy trying to help people and get him locked up which is good... possibly a future storyline!!" Another chimed in with fears for Dee-Dee's wellbeing, saying: "I agree there is a future storyline with Dee Dee's mental health but I hope not! She's been through enough."

A third predicted an obsession with the child, stating: "I think she's going to be obsessed with Frankie." Yet another fan reflected on the aftermath, pondering: "She'll probably fall apart when this is over. I hope there will be someone there to support her."

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
