Beyond Paradise star Kris Marshall has cryptically teased the return of a beloved character from season one ahead of the next chapter in the BBC crime series. The spin-off show to Death In Paradise sees DI Humphrey Goodman (played by Kris Marshall) start a new life in the fictional Devonshire town of Shipton Abbott, where he turns his attention to the mysteries and local misdeeds in the area.
Beyond Paradise features a host of guest stars as each episode follows case by case scenarios, but an upcoming episode sounds very much like it will bring a former favourite back into the fold.
During a recent appearance on BBC's Morning Live, Kris hinted: "We are welcoming back a very well-loved character from season 1, I can tell you that.
We've been doing some scenes with him today."
He declined to reveal the identity of the mystery actor, but Kris did declare it a "massive spoiler" that "it's a 'he'".
Fans have been speculating the possible contenders for a potential show return including Phil Daniels, who played fisherman Marvellous Harris, and Rufus Jones, who appeared as art dealer Terrence Witham.
Speaking about a previous character, Kris added: "Phil doing a Devon accent as well... We all know Phil Daniels' voice from everything so it was incredible to work with him as well."
While it's possible neither Daniels nor Jones will return, Kris's comments is sure to get fans speculating about which beloved will be back on the small-screen in the coming weeks.
Beyond Paradise season 4 is coming soon to BBC One and iPlayer
