The Congress party announced its second list of candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, scheduled for November 20, 2024. Among the notable candidates is Anuja Kedar, the wife of MLA Sunil Kedar, who has been fielded from Sanver. Sunil Kedar was previously convicted and disqualified due to a corruption case.

In another key decision, Girish Pandey has been chosen to contest from Nagpur South, while Hemant Ogale will replace the sitting MLA Lahu Kanade from the Shrirampur seat.

The Maha Vikas Agadi (MVA) alliance has finalized its seat-sharing arrangement for 255 constituencies, distributing 85 seats to each partner party. The remaining 23 seats in the state Assembly will be allocated based on their respective candidate lists. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole confirmed that the MVA partners—Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction)—are set to contest 85 seats each. Sanjay Raut, a leader from Shiv Sena (UBT), also confirmed this agreement.

As the elections approach, both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition MVA are ramping up their preparations for the 288 Assembly seats in the state. The Mahayuti alliance includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and the NCP led by Ajit Pawar.

Counting for all 288 constituencies will take place on November 23. In the previous assembly elections held in 2019, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress secured 44 seats. In 2014, the BJP won 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42.
