Expert Shaili Sharma says that leucorrhoea can be both physiological and pathological. In physiological, there is a problem of white discharge in the puberty age group. Along with this, it also increases during pregnancy. At the same time, white discharge starts coming in the second half cycle of periods, that is, before the period.
Physiological leucorrhoea is a very normal condition. White discharge at this time is meant to maintain the chemical balance in the vaginal system and the elasticity of the vaginal tissues.
Talking about pathological leucorrhoea, any type of local vaginal infection which can be viral, bacterial, or fungal can increase leucorrhoea. Infection of the cervix can also increase leucorrhoea. Local inflammation such as cervical cancer or vaginal cancer can cause leucorrhoea.
This also happens due to hygiene, nowadays women use local vaginal wash and douching, so this tendency increases.
If the color of the discharge is yellow or smelly, there is itching and burning sensation in the vagina and there is excessive discharge, then you should contact a gynecologist.
