A hit and run case was reported on Monday night in Rajasthan's capital Jaipur. A drunk car driver ran over several people in the Nahargarh area. This is the third death in this accident. The third deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Virendra Singh. 50-year-old Mamta Kanwar and 37-year-old Awadhesh Pareek had died earlier in the accident. Other people injured in the accident have been identified as Mohammad Jalaluddin (44), Monesh Soni (28), Vijay Narayan (65), Deepika Saini (17), Anshika (24) and Zebunnisha (50). All these people have been admitted to SMS Hospital. According to doctors, the condition of the injured is still critical.

Accused driver arrested

The police arrested the absconding car driver within a few hours of the hit and run case coming to light. The accused has been identified as Usman. The accused has an iron bed manufacturing factory in Jaipur's VKI area. On Monday night, the accused was driving his car in an inebriated condition. During this time, his car went out of control. The car crushed several bike riders and pedestrians. CCTV footage of this incident also surfaced, which is going viral on social media. Everyone is shocked to see the actions of the accused.

Gehlot demanded strict action

Former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot's reaction has also come to the fore in the case. He has demanded strict action against the accused driver. Gehlot wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that a drunk car driver crushed more than half a dozen people in Jaipur, this incident is heart-wrenching. The criminal who carried out such an act should be prosecuted under serious sections. He prays for the peace of the souls of those who lost their lives in this accident and to give courage to the family members. The people injured in the accident should get proper treatment, he wishes for their speedy recovery.

In the Jaipur hit and run case, the government has announced financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh each to the families of the deceased. The registration and license of the accused's vehicle will be cancelled. The process has started after the instructions of RTO Rajendra Shekhawat.
