Bushra Bibi, wife of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been released from jail after 265 days. She was granted bail in the Toshakhana case by the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday. The officer investigating the case told the court that there is no need for any additional investigation in this case in the future.

Bushra Bibi was arrested on January 31 this year when a court sentenced her to 14 years in prison in the Toshakhana case. On Wednesday, Judge Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb accepted the bail plea of the former First Lady and granted her bail on a bond of Rs 10 lakh.

Released 24 hours after getting bail

Her team of lawyers reached Gate No. 5 of Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail with the release order on Thursday and after the process was completed, Bushra Bibi was released. PTI's lawyers said that on Wednesday, due to the absence of any officer, they could not fill the security bond, due to which it took more than 24 hours to release Bushra Bibi.

According to the information, due to the absence of Senior Special Judge Shahrukh Arjumand and Special Judge Humayun Dilawar on Wednesday, it took 24 hours for the release order to be issued from the Accountability Court of Islamabad. On Thursday, as soon as the release order was received, a team of lawyers reached Adiala Jail, and the former Prime Minister's wife was released after 265 days. Imran Khan has also been lodged in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi for the last year. The Government of Pakistan has leveled many charges against him, including the Toshakhana scam.

What is the Toshakhana case?

Toshakhana is a department where gifts received by the Prime Minister or the Government of Pakistan are kept. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan is accused of buying gifts worth about Rs 14 crore at cheap prices from 2018 to 2022 and keeping them with himself. This included many priceless gifts like expensive watches, rings, and precious pens.
