Delhi Lok Adalat to Clear Pending Traffic Fines

In a major relief for Delhi vehicle owners, the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) has announced a special Lok Adalat on May 10, 2025, dedicated to resolving traffic challan cases. The event will be held from 10 AM to 4 PM across all seven district court complexes in the city.

1.8 Lakh Challans to Be Resolved

The Lok Adalat aims to settle around 1,80,000 traffic challans issued by the Delhi Traffic Police. These include all compoundable notices or challans generated up to January 31, 2025. The DSLSA has set up 180 benches, with each bench tasked with disposing of approximately 1,000 cases.

Notably, cases that are already under judicial consideration may also be addressed in this session.

Where Will It Take Place?

The Lok Adalat will be organized at the following Delhi district court complexes:

  • Dwarka

  • Karkardooma

  • Patiala House

  • Rohini

  • Rouse Avenue

  • Saket

  • Tis Hazari

Who Can Participate and What Are the Limits?

Vehicle owners must meet certain conditions to take advantage of this initiative:

  • Private vehicle owners can resolve a maximum of 7 notices or challans (5 notices + 2 challans).

  • Commercial vehicle owners are limited to 2 notices or challans.

Some types of challans will not be eligible for settlement, including:

  • Non-compoundable notices

  • Cognizance-declined notices

  • Already paid or disposed notices

How to Participate

To take part in the Lok Adalat, vehicle owners must:

  • Visit the starting May 5, 2025, at 10 AM.

  • Download and print the eligible challans.

  • Bring a printed copy of the challan to the court—no printing facility will be available on-site.

  • Note: A cap of 60,000 downloads per day has been set until the total limit of 1.8 lakh challans is reached.
