This Morning viewers beg US star to join show after she fills in for Cat Deeley

This Morning viewers are calling for Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon to join the presenting line-up after she filled in for host Cat Deeley on today's show. The 49-year-old is currently starring in Apple TV+ hit The Morning Show, playing news anchor Bradley Jackson.

The drama returns for a fourth series today, having picked up three Emmys last year for the previous run. The Morning Show follows the presenters and staff of the titular American news programme - including host Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston), Bradley Jackson and UBA network CEO Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup).

The stellar wider cast also features the likes of Bombshell's Mark Duplass, Black Mirror's Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lost's Nestor Carbonell, And Just Like That's Karen Pittman as well as The Good Place's William Jackson Harper, Mad Men's Jon Hamm and The Lion King's Jeremy Irons.

Promoting the show, Reese, Billy and Karen appeared on the This Morning sofa to chat to hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley - and Reese had a go at actually presenting a daytime programme in real life.

Taking the show into an ad break, Reese read: "Do you want me to do Cat? Ok! Coming up next on This Morning, there's more drama for Carla on Corrie and is Emmerdale's John wearing any pants under that hospital gown?

"We're gonna find out. Sharon Marshall has all the latest from your favourite soaps - and did you know it's already time to start thinking about your Christmas shopping. We'll be revealing how AI can save you time and money. Right here, on This Morning."

Viewers couldn't get enough of the Legally Blonde star, begging for her to join the presenting line-up permanently. "Great interview with the #morningshow cast on #thismorning, Cat and Ben made sure everyone got questions. And Reece Witherspoon doing the link to the ads was terrific," one viewer wrote.

Another said: "#thismorning aw brilliant reading from @ReeseW." A third tweeted: "The highlight of my day is watching @ReeseW read the teleprompter on @thismorning She smashed it! #thismorning #itv."

Another pleaded: "Give Reese the job now!!! #thismorning." A fifth said: "If Reese hosted this morning, I wouldn’t complain. #thismorning."

Earlier this morning, Good Morning Britain suffered a live blunder when Technology Secretary Liz Kendall turned up in a green top. The politician was meant to stand in front of a green screen, but was unable to due to her outfit.

Presenters Richard Madeleyand Susanna Reid revealed that the show had to make a "low tech" change to the background as a result - and put up a printed picture of Westminster behind her.
