was a fan-favourite back in the noughties, reeling in viewers with its look at the glamorous lives of fashion industry wannabes. Running from 2006 to 2010, the reality TV show focused on and her group of well-groomed friends, following their wild ups and downs, feuds, tumultuous relationships.
Lauren was joined by pals , , , and over six seasons, with Spencer's sisters joining in the third. While the MTV show was often accused of being too much like a 'soap opera' and appearing to feed into the chaos, plenty of drama definitely did go down in real life.
It's been 15 years since the end of The Hills now, and the stars - much like in the show - have had very mixed experiences. For some, being on TV catapulted them into fame and wealth, while others have ended up with huge money woes, emotional issues, and failed relationships. Here's what came next for the infamous LA fashionistas...

Lauren ConradLauren was just 18 and at Laguna Beach High School when she was cast in Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County which spawned spin-off series The Hills. She was the highest paid cast member with an annual salary of £1.8million, and has now amassed a jaw-dropping estimated net worth of around £29million.
Looking back, Lauren has admitted it was the cash that convinced her to sign up for The Hills. “If we’re being blunt, I was broke. And I was like, 'Yeah, that was the easiest money I ever made',” she told Whitney Port's Dear Media podcast, With Whit.
Lauren left in May 2009 and has since launched her successful LC Lauren Conrad fashion line and Lauren Conrad Beauty, alongside opening a fair trade online store and even bringing out a perfume. She's also penned nine books, and launched podcast Asking For A Friend in 2019 but ditched it after just one season.
The star was known as one of the most 'normal' of The Hills cast, tending to keep away from the catfights and focus on her goals, and she's since opted to detach herself from the series. While the rest of the cast happily signed up to take part in the reunion The Hills: New Beginnings in 2019, Lauren said she was too busy and declined.
Away from her very successful life as an entrepreneur, Lauren has also had a very peaceful private life in comparison to some of her co-stars. She started dating Something Corporate guitarist William Tell in 2012, and tied the knot with him two years later. The couple now shares three sons: Liam, born in 2017; and Charlie, born in 2019.
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag
Spencer met 22-year-old producer Heidi at a nightclub while filming for the show when she was 19, and they married in April 2009 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, California. Unfortunately, friends and family were not behind their often tempestuous relationship, with Spencer's own .
It also drove a wedge between Heidi and Lauren, who accused the couple of spreading false rumours that she'd made a sex tape with ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler. The rift was deep and permanent, and to this day Lauren refuses to talk to her former bestie. "I’d be willing to move forward and put things behind us," Heidi recently told the #NoFilter podcast, sniping that Lauren 'holds grudges'.
The couple's reputation took even more of a beating in 2009 when Heidi filed for separation and Spencer threatened to leak a supposed sex tape - only for them to get back together and renew their vows, later admitting they'd made the whole thing up for publicity.
Why? Because despite earning almost £150,000 per episode, they'd blown their £7.5million earnings in two years on £23,000 shopping sprees, £3,000 bottles of wine, £11,000-a-night bodyguards and a crystal collection worth a staggering £750,000. They even dropped £2million on the making of Heidi's flop album, Superficial, which sold only 1,000 copies in its first week and failed to chart.
"We were immature and we got caught up," Spencer told In Touch Weekly in 2014. "We thought we were and Beyoncé." Even more astounding though was the reason they did it. "The thing is, we heard that the planet was going to end in 2012," Spencer admitted to OK! magazine. "We thought, 'We have got to spend this money before the asteroid hits'."
Then came Heidi's most erratic move yet when she underwent 10 plastic surgeries in one day - a decision that almost cost her her life. Out cold for 10 hours, she had a nose job, butt lift, brow lift, chin reduction, liposuction, a boob job and her ears pinned back before she 'died for a minute' when too much Demerol - a powerful painkiller - stopped her heart beating.
At the time, the insecure star claimed the surgery had left her feeling 'sexier' than ever. But these days, she deeply regrets taking such drastic action. "Cutting yourself up isn't something I'd recommend, and Demerol isn't anything to play around with. That's how Michael Jackson died," she told Paper magazine. "I had to look at myself in the mirror every day healing, and be like, 'What did I do to myself? How did I get here? What is going on?' I basically had to hit that rock-bottom moment in my life, to realise what was important to me."
Meanwhile, the duo took another pop at reality TV in 2013, competing on ... Get Me Out Of Here! and clashing with Rylan Clark-Neal. They also starred in Wife Swap and in 2019 signed up for The Hills: New Beginnings, rejoining Brody Jenner, Audrina Partridge, Justin Bobby and Whitney Port. Spencer has also been on UK twice.
Since then, Spencer has turned his crystal obsession into a lucrative money-spinner, selling crystals and geodes at his Los Angeles store, Pratt Daddy Crystals. Away from work, Spencer and Heidi share sons Gunner, born in 2017, and Ryker, 2022. Tragically, the family went through yet another difficult moment when they lost their home in the of January 2025.
Audrina PartridgeAudrina joined the show as Lauren's friend and took Heidi's place as her roommate following their fall out. On The Hills, her main storylines followed the drama of her on-off romances with Justin Bobby and Ryan Cabrera. It turns out that she's had just as much trouble with relationships since leaving the show.
In 2008 she started dating professional BMX dirt rider Corey Bohan and their daughter Kirra was born in 2016, just months before they married. Unfortunately, a messy divorce ensued less than a year later, and in 2019 Audrina opened up about life as a single mum.
"My little girl is my pride and joy and she literally is like an angel sent from God. I could cry, I love her so much," gushed the star, who briefly reunited with Ryan Cabrera in 2018 and has since been linked to LA bar owner Matt Chase and muso Sean Stewart.
Professionally, her own 2011 VH1 series Audrina was axed after one series, and she starred in horror film Sorority Row and straight to DVD movie, Into the Blue 2: The Reef. She launched her own swim line, Prey Swim, in 2016 and returned for the Hills revival in 2019. After the reunio,n she got together with co-stars Brody Jenner and Frankie Delgado to make 30 episodes of a podcast called Was It Real? The Hills Rewatch, and revisited the show yet again in her 2022 memoir Choices: To the Hills and Back Again.
Whitney Port
Whitney was Lauren's fellow intern at Teen Vogue and got her own spin-off, The City, when she moved to New York to work for Diane von Fürstenberg in 2008. She did the show to help with the launch of her own clothing line, but looking back, the designer fears her reality TV profile did more harm than good.
“I feel like I have to prove myself a little bit more and I think that’s infiltrated into my life too,” she said. “Like I’m always kind of one step behind people, especially in the fashion industry.” Whitney revealed that she's also been left with 'trust issues' as a result of the heavily scripted and manipulated plotlines, saying: “Their job was to like make things out of nothing and make us think things that weren’t actually happening. And I feel that had an effect on me trusting other people, [because] these were such formative years of our lives.”
One good thing to have come out of The City was her relationship with show producer Tim Rosenman, who she married in November 2015 before their son Sonny arrived two years later. She has sadly a suffered a chemical and following the arrival of Sunny, but bravely shared her experiences in order to help others.
Whitney's going strong despite her challenges, and co-hosted the eighth season of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model alongside veering into acting with an appearances on What to Expect When You’re Expecting and Almost Royal. She's also a podcaster and hosts a series reacting to MTV shows with husband Tim, and has even branched into fashion with her clothing line, CozeCo.
Lo BosworthLo, like Lauren, was in The Hills franchise from the very beginning, starring in Laguna Beach before they graduated onto the adult show. After years in reality TV, she's now a wellness guru after 'vitamin deficiencies' left her living from depression and anxiety. In 2016 she launched her successful brand, Love Wellness, that specialises in skin care, metabolism and vaginal health.
Sadly, in 2021 she revealed that she'd secretly suffered a "traumatic brain injury" in 2019 that had left her "struggling to recall words" two years on. Sharing the news on , Lo wrote: "I was at a restaurant in lower Manhattan (which shall remain nameless bc accidents happen) and while sitting in a banquet had one of the swinging kitchen doors fall off it's hinges and on to my head.
"I was in the hospital and suffered a moderate to severe concussion for months. I took weeks off work and the road to recovery was long. I remember visiting a friend a few weeks later and feeling totally lost on 3rd avenue and 21st street, not knowing which direction to walk in. I still struggle to recall words from time to time and get my thoughts out coherently 2 years later."
And for Lo, taking part in the reunion was never on the cards, with the star telling the Lady Lovin' podcast: "I don't want any association with any of those people. The dissociation from all those people is what I'm hungry for. I think everybody actually feels that way about their coworkers, which is really what the The Hills was. They were all just my f**king coworkers. It was a job. A j-o-b."
In 2019, the Love Wellness founder was dating Shark Tank star and Kitu Life CEO Jimmy DeCicco, but has now moved on with investor Domenic Natale - and announced their engagement this January. Lo is something of a business pro herself, with a book to her name and a very successful beauty channel alongside her wellness work.
Stephanie PrattSpencer's little sister Stephanie attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising with Lauren, where they bonded over mutual dislike of her brother. After the show and amid a nasty feud with Spencer and Heidi, she relocated to the UK and starred in several reality TV shows including Made in Chelsea - in which she dated Spencer Matthews - Millionaire Matchmaker, and Celebrity .
And in 2015 she bared her soul in her autobiography, revealing that things weren't as perfect as they looked behind the scenes. In some troubling confessions, Stephanie revealed that she used to smoke crystal meth up to 13 times a day when she was a schoolgirl. In the memoir, Made In Reality, she said: "I was 14 or 15 [when I first smoked crystal meth]... I was on the extreme level and addiction developed instantly. [I smoked] probably four times before school, then at snack... probably 12 or 13 times a day."
She spent time in a rehabilitation clinic in Texas where she got clean before joining The Hills. These days she is happy and healthy but is yet to make peace with Spencer and Heidi and refused to join the reunion, branding her brother's wife an "awful human being".
