James Norton's ex takes swipe at Happy Valley star after brutal move

ex-girlfriend Charlotte Rose Smith appeared to take a savage swipe at the star after reports emerged that he joined the exclusive celebrity dating app Raya just days after their breakup. Charlotte, 26, took to with a post that many saw as a pointed response to their split.

She shared the iconic image of Nicole Kidman gleefully celebrating her divorce from Tom Cruise on her story. This picture is often used to symbolise feeling liberated by a breakup. The same meme has previously been shared by other celebrities, including Jenna Dewan after her divorce from Channing Tatum.

Charlotte posted this story shortly after Norton, 39, was reportedly spotted on Raya. The dating app is known for attracting creatives and celebrities, and according to , the actor has been seen on it with a new profile that features photos of him with a shaved head.

Norton and Charlotte began dating in late 2023 and were seen together on numerous occasions. At the time, an insider told : "They have been enjoying dates and seem very happy together. It has been a year since his relationship with Imogen ended and he appears to get on so well with Charlotte. They make a lovely couple."

While James may be re-entering the dating , Charlotte seems to be channelling her feelings into her art. She has been posting a series of cryptic TikToks from her London studio.

In one recent clip, she declared, "When everything is falling apart I will always have art. Broken heart? Still got my art." In another, she can be seen confidently strutting in a satin dress with the caption: "How I imagine every ex thinks of me."

Meanwhile, James appears to be leaning on his family during this difficult time. On a recent episode of the Travel Secrets podcast, he revealed that he is planning a trip to Kenya with his parents, Hugh and Lavinia, and sister Jessica.

"It’s with my family, which is really lovely," he said. "There’s a point you get to in your early twenties...I was lucky enough to look at my mum and dad when we were all adults, and say, ‘We get on!’

"My dad and I have a grudge match playing chess and we play bridge. My sister has two little boys who are six and four and we have a really nice little family unit. So for the first time, I’m taking them on holiday. We’re going to the Masai Mara for some safari. I can’t wait to see my little nephews do safari."

James was previously engaged to actress Imogen Poots, 35. The couple ended their seven-year relationship in late 2023. While speaking to after their split, Norton admitted: "Some of the choices recently weren’t mine, yet I don’t feel begrudging."
