Erik ten Hag's 'belief' over Manchester United role ahead of make-or-break meeting

Manchester United manager believes this week's executive committee meeting will not end with him being sacked, it has been claimed.

United co-owner is due to meet with the club's higher-ups in London on Tuesday, with Ten Hag's future expected to be a topic of discussion. The team sit 14th in the table going into the international break, despite spending £200m on new signings over the summer.

Ratcliffe was asked about the manager's future before Sunday's match against Aston Villa, and hinted his own feelings about Ten Hag wouldn't be the deciding factor. In addition to Ratcliffe, Berrada, Ashworth, the meeting will be attended by technical director Jason Wilcox and Ratcliffe's United co-owner Joel Glazer. Glazer is understood to have been in Manchester for a fans' advisory board meeting before heading south.

Ratcliffe spoke to the before the Villa game, when he was in for the Americas Cup. He was asked whether he had faith in Ten Hag, days before taking his seat at Villa Park, and .

"I don’t want to answer that question…" Ratcliffe said. "I like Erik. I think he’s a very good coach but at the end of the day it’s not my call, it’s the management team that’s running that have to decide how we best run the team in many different respects.

"But that team that’s running Manchester United has only been together since June or July. They weren’t there in January, February, March or April – [CEO] Omar [Berrada], [Sporting Director] Dan Ashworth - they only arrived in July
