David Moyes was adamant Luis Diaz was offside before he set up Diogo Jota for ’s winner at Anfield on Wednesday night. Diaz was in an offside position when cleared the ball before he teed up Jota in the next phase and Moyes claims he was not surprised the goal was allowed to stand.
“He’s offside,” said the Everton boss. “It’s quite an easy one to give as well because all our players are holding on the 18-yard line and Diaz comes from behind and affects us from behind clearing it.
“I’m really surprised it wasn’t given or maybe I’m not surprised. I don’t think there are many managers who come here and think they get loads of decisions. That’s my opinion and this was one tonight, which I think is very easy to give offside, very easy.”
Moyes also admitted skipper James Tarkowski was fortunate not to be sent off for his challenge on Alexis MacAllister. Tarkowski was booked for his two-footed lunge at MacAllister after winning the ball and Moyes claims it did not look good when he saw the replay of it.

“At the time, I thought it was a brilliant tackle for the derby game,” he said. “But since I’ve come back in and seen replays, I think we were lucky he didn’t get a red because it looked high.”
Liverpool restored their 12-point lead to take a step closer to a record-equalling 20th title and disagreed with Moyes over Jota’s goal.
“It was nice to see,” said the Reds boss. “According to the rules, it was a goal so no-one can complain about that. There’re always question marks with a goal, but the good thing is we have rules and the rules tell us it’s a clear goal.
“I would be frustrated if I’d conceded it, but then I’m frustrated at the rule and not the execution of the rule. The execution of the rule was perfect from the referee.”
Slot refused to be drawn on Tarkowski’s challenge and said: “Everybody has said something about it, so why should I add to it? It’s so obvious that it’s not necessary for me to comment.”
