Coronation Street DI Costello's twisted plan for Lisa after Tia Wardley bombshell

Send Push

Coronation Street's DI Costello tricked DS Lisa Swain in scenes that aired on Friday night.

There was happiness on the Manchester backstreet earlier this week for Lisa (Vicky Myers) when she got engaged to Carla Connor. In the latest instalment of the world's longest-running TV soap,Carla, Lisa, her teenage daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) and Carla's nephew Ryan (Ryan Prescott) went to the Bistro to celebrate.

When she first arrived on the cobbles, Lisa revealed that her first wife Becky was killed in the line of duty. Since then, DI Costello has been eager to stop Lisa from looking into her late wife's police case files, and exploring the truth about her death.

Early in the episode, Lisa's superior DI Costello had congratulated her on her engagement as she told him of her plans for the evening. But on her way to the celebrations, it was clear that Lisa was being watched by a mysterious person.

Fans will remember that weeks ago, Carla paid a visit to Logan Radcliffe in prison and he gave her the name Tia Wardley. The Underworld boss was not able to find anything out by simply Googling the name, and Lisa claimed to know nothing about her.

In a shock moment on Friday, a blonde lady strolled into the Bistro and introduced herself as Tia. Lisa's jaw dropped, as Tia told her: "My brother said someone had been asking for me. Becky Swain's name came up. "

Lisa said: "You knew her?" and the newcomer explained: "She helped me turn my life around. She could see I was on the wrong track. I was out of my depth. I wanted to make changes." She then claimed that Becky had 'put her in touch with the right people', gave her money and wanted 'absolutely nothing' in return for helping her.

When asked by Kit about what happened, she said: "I had to let go of my old life and everyone in it, and Logan was a part of that. So, I ghosted him. He never forgave" The woman then claimed that Becky had 'saved her life' and Carla mumbled "Good old Becky, eh?" as she slumped back in her seat.

Lisa seemed sold on everything she had heard and thanked the woman for coming to see her. Kit asked her if she had ever met DI Costello and the blonde lady shook her head as she said: "Never heard of her." But Kit and Lisa were right to have had their concerns all along, as another shock twist took place just moments later.

The blonde woman was next seen getting into a car with none other than DI Costello. Ready to hand her an envelope of cash, the woman reminded him that they 'had no idea' what the real Tia looked like and said: "I gave them the full Meryl Streep. Come on, hand it over. I've earned every penny."

She began to count the cash and when Costello asked: "Don't you trust me?", she scoffed as she replied: "What do you think?" before reminding the corrupt police officer that he had only told her 'half' on the story when it comes to Becky, but he stayed tight-lipped on the whole thing.

So where is the real Tia and why is Costello tricking Lisa? The twisted plan to make her believe something about Becky and her death that likely isn't true, and have her believe this random person pretending to be Tia and her made up claims, clearly proves he's trouble, and he doesn't care if Lisa gets hurt.
