Cattle shelter, institute to teach Sanatan Dharma, hospital needed in all temples: Kerala Governor

Kannur(Kerala) | Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has called for establishing a cow shelter, an institute to teach Sanatan Dharma and a hospital in each temple of the state and suggested that the Devaswom Boards can implement this.

Arlekar, speaking after unveiling a bronze idol of Lord Shiva at the Sri Rajarajeswara Temple in Taliparamba here on Saturday evening, also said that medical facilities should also be made available at all temples.

"All our temples must have... one 'gaushala' (cattle shelter) where all the cattle roaming in the streets are to be brought. That is our prime duty. There will be many people willing to donate for the 'gaushala'.

One more thing we have to do. We must have an educational institution. It is a must. Otherwise, who will give the teachings and preachings of our Sanatan Dharma to the next generation?" the Governor said.

He also said that 'manav seva' (service to humanity) is 'madhav seva' (service to God).

"Therefore, we also must have a hospital facility. Service to the patient is a must. All these three things can be done by the Devaswom Board," he added.

Arlekar further said that people are ready to donate anything "when we ask for it".

"We have to go to them. This is what we need today. Whatever comes to the feet of God and the temple, that again has to be given to the public, the society, to the people. In which form? As I said, a 'gaushala', an educational institution and a hospital or medical facility. All these things are to be done by us," he said. P
