Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has begun preparations for a large-scale survey of unauthorized constructions, following directives from the Mumbai High Court under Public Interest Litigations (PIL) No. 111/2022 and 209/2023. A planning meeting, chaired by NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, was held at the municipal headquarters to coordinate efforts with relevant authorities.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Encroachment Department, Town Planning, CIDCO, MIDC, the District Collector's office, the Forest Department, and Navi Mumbai Police. Discussions focused on conducting a node-wise survey, preparing inspection reports, issuing notices to property holders, and holding hearings before initiating action against illegal constructions.
“As per the court’s order, the survey must be completed within four months. It was instructed to the officials to ensure that all actions comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling from November 13, 2024, to maintain legal integrity in the enforcement process,” NMMC Commissioner said.
