Gaya (Bihar), April 09: In a shocking incident, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's granddaughter was shot dead allegedly by her husband on Wednesday (April 9) in Gaya. His granddaughter identified as Sushma Devi was allegedly shot dead by her husband Ramesh at their house in Gaya. The police have initiated an investigation in connection with the matter and a search operation has been launched to arrest the accused.
Details About The Incident
The shocking incident occurred in Tetua village of Atri block in Gaya district. As per reports from NBT, Sushma worked as a Vikas Mitra (development worker) in the same block. Her husband Ramesh is a truck driver based in Patna.
According to reports, the murder took place at around 12 noon today. Ramesh allegedly shot his wife inside their home using a country-made pistol. After shooting her, he threw the weapon and fled spot. The villagers rushed to the spot on hearing the sound of gunfire.

Villagers found Sushma in critical condition after which they immediately rushed Sushma to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead. Police soon reached the spot and took the dead body into their custody. Then they sent the dead body for postmortem and started an investigation. The search for the husband is still ongoing.
Marriage and Family Details
Sushma and Ramesh had an inter-caste marriage around 14 years ago. At the time of the incident, Sushma’s sister and children were in another room of the house. When they heard the gunshot, they rushed to the spot and found Sushma lying on the floor. Neighbours also arrived after hearing the noise.
